Metrics

Checkout Abandonment

Checkout abandonment is the share of shoppers who reach the checkout page but leave before completing payment. A narrower, more recoverable metric than cart abandonment.

Checkout abandonment runs 40–60% across e-commerce. Lower than cart-abandonment because the customer has higher intent by the time they reach checkout.

Common causes: form length, surprise shipping costs, payment method missing (no Apple Pay / Klarna / local options), trust signals weak.

Voice agents on checkout abandonment recover at the highest rate of any segment. These are the highest-intent abandoners.
